The match today was a home tie against Culter Boys. With all players available it was a chance to field what looked like a strong side for Kintore. The game started well for both teams with some good passing between Liam Duthie and Matt Milne. Liam passed to Matt which saw a half chance just go wide for a goal kick. Culter were pressing but Dylan Chapman dealt well with it getting in a good tackle and clearing the danger. The Kintore midfield were passing well and trying to link with the forwards with a chance just going wide. Kintore were creating more now and a ball from Cameron McDonald almost put Matt Milne through but a last ditch challenge saw Culter clear their lines. Another good ball from Liam Duthie saw Matt Milne through one on one but the ref judged he was offside.
Culter Boys reacted well to the Kintore pressure and started to press forward. Kintore were struggling to get the ball out of their half and the ball fell for a Culter midfielder who had a great effort that went just over. The pressure was still on and Cameron Cobban had a good block and clearance. Jack Chalmers had time to take the ball down but opted to clear for a corner. The resulting corner led Stuart Derval to save well from close range. Matt Milne was trying to relieve the pressure by holding the ball up front. One occasion saw him beat three players but the Culter defence cleared as he was out numbered. Kintore were struggling to back up the forwards but Owen Lawson got forward and from midfield had a good strike but the Culter keeper saved well. Scott Cadger came on for Matthew Stephen who had to go off ill. Scott was on up front with Matt Milne but a strong Culter defence cleared the danger.
Half Time 0-0
A good start from Kintore in the second half led to a corner but Culter cleared well. Culter had some good moves with a lot of inter passing but Owen Lawson got back and defended well. Culter pressed again but some good defending from Ewan McBain and Dylan Chapman cleared again. The switch at half time made the Kintore midfield stronger but the ball was not sticking up front. Ross Reid came on to right midfield and Matt Milne went back up front with Danny Hedley. The switch saw Kintore have a chance straightaway with Cameron McDonald back on for Harry Rae. Cameron had a good effort saved well by the keeper. Kintore were holding on to the ball well and Danny Hedley was linking well with the midfield and pressing the Culter defence but the ball just wouldn't fall for him.
Culter broke away quickly and caught most of the Kintore team napping but Dylan Chapman showed some brilliant speed and got back to get a tackle in when the Culter Boys forward was about to let fly. Not only did he get the challenge in but got up and saved the corner. Ewan Reid had to be at his best in goal as he turned the ball passed the post for a corner when it looked like Culter were going to score. Kintore had another break away with Liam Duthie threading a ball through to Matt Milne but the Culter keeper was off his line quick and just beat him to the ball. Kintore were pressing hard and Liam Duthie created a chance for himself. After some great skill Liam brought off a good save from the keeper. From the resulting corner by Matt Milne, Liam fired just over the bar.
Culter Boys had an attack up the left side and swung in a good cross which the Kintore defence struggled to clear. There was a goal mouth scramble and the Culter forward shot narrowly wide. Kintore got the breakthrough when Cameron McDonald put an inch perfect ball through to MATT MILNE who beat the defence and fired a half volley into the roof of the net from the edge of the box. Owen Lawson was getting forward on the left and forced a throw. Kintore probably had their best move of the game from the throw. Matt and Cameron linked well to set up Harry Rae but the keeper saved well.
This game was not to the standard set by the Kintore players and some of the better players let themselves down today. A mention must go to Cameron McDonald who held the midfield together and Matt Milne who kept focused and got the goal his play deserved. Man of the match goes to Dylan Chapman who was excellent in defence.
